" But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." John 14:26 (NIV)
Can you imagine how Jesus apostles felt after his death? Watching your beloved friend and teacher suffer and die would be devastating on it's own, knowing you may suffer a similiar fate for carrying out His command to preach the Gospel would be equally daunting. At the same time, this is what Jesus asked of them; they were entrusted with this sacred mission.
Without the supernatural strength and courage given to these apostles by the Holy Spirit, it would probably have seemed impossible to take on this most important ministry.
God knows we need Him most during the darkest times in life. These times make us painfully aware of our own limitations, so we have no choice but to turn to Him for help.
God provided us with the comfort and strength of the Holy Spirit to get us through such times. However, when life is going along smoothly, it is tempting to think we are capable of handling things on our own. It is easy to forget that the reason life seems easy may very well be because of God's grace.
Prayer is equally important in both times. Sometimes this prayer will be out of desparation, sometimes out of gratitude. God wants to hear it all. He sent us the Spirit to mourn and celebrate with us.
